Is Microneedling Better Than Laser Treatments?

by | Beautiful Skin, Skin Care

Is microneedling the biggest thing on the market today? A lot of us think so! Having worked under a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, I’m no stranger to tools and technology and this is one the best by far.

Why is microneedling such a good treatment?

Many people cannot have treatments that involve heat because it may trigger melanin production and melasma. Heat may also be a detriment for those that suffer from rosacea. The development of microneedling has been a great solution to that problem, as it does not produce heat in the skin.

The benefits of micro-needling include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging, and acne scarring can also be reduced.

Does microneedling hurt?

While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable. The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen® is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. Numbing cream is applied to the skin for 30 minutes before the treatment begins, which makes the service much more comfortable.

Post treatment you’ll feel as if you have a mild sunburn and will be red for the day. Makeup is fine to apply the next day. Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months.

How many microneedling treatments are needed?

Some clients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most clients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For those with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.

The Eclipse MicroPen® is a revolutionary cordless dermal micro-needling device used by skincare professionals across the globe. Eclipse MicroPen® has several advantages over previous generation anti-aging devices such as lasers and dermal needle rollers. Dermatologists and aesthetic practitioners choose the Eclipse MicroPen® for the following reasons:

  • Safety First. The Eclipse MicroPen® is inherently safer than other products, such as dermal rollers. The MicroPen® delivers greater efficiency and superior clinical results while maintaining the highest level of safety for both the patient and provider. It is also safe for most skin types, which means it is a great procedure for almost everyone!
  • Faster is Better. MicroPen’s high-speed motor allows for a more efficient yet timely procedure. The rapid pen motion provides a more comfortable experience that patients describe as a mild sandpaper-like sensation.
  • Customized For You. Each patient has unique skin needs and requirements. The variable pen position feature allows MicroPen® professionals to customize a treatment for best clinical results.
  • Consistent Results. Safety and control features lead to predictable, consistent results. Compared to lasers and dermal rollers, MicroPen® is able to deliver reliable and improved outcomes for virtually every patient.
